Safety and LSA

Prepare People to Protect Life at Sea

At sea, safety is not a department. It is a responsibility shared by everyone onboard.

Marine operations can involve fire, flooding, collision, grounding, machinery failure, hazardous cargo, severe weather and other emergencies where the quality of preparation can determine the outcome.

Pertecnica Marine Academy’s Marine Safety & LSA Vertical is designed to develop the knowledge, practical awareness and emergency-response capabilities required to protect people, vessels and marine operations.

Safety Begins Before the Emergency

The strongest emergency response is built long before an emergency occurs.

Our training approach connects prevention, preparedness, response and recovery, helping learners understand how safety systems, procedures, equipment and human actions work together onboard a vessel.

The portfolio brings together specialized training modules covering:

Personal Safety
Safe working practices, PPE, onboard hazards, safe movement, workplace discipline and personal responsibility.

Emergency Preparedness
Emergency organization, muster procedures, alarm systems, emergency duties, drills and response coordination.

Life-Saving Appliances — LSA
Life-saving equipment, lifeboats, rescue boats, life rafts, lifejackets, immersion suits, launching arrangements and associated equipment.

Fire Safety & Firefighting
Fire prevention, fire detection, firefighting equipment, fire classes, fixed systems, portable extinguishers, fire drills and emergency response.

Survival at Sea
Survival techniques, abandonment procedures, survival craft operations, sea survival, exposure protection and emergency communication.

Rescue Operations
Man-overboard response, search and rescue principles, rescue boats, recovery procedures and coordination during marine emergencies.

Shipboard Emergency Systems
Emergency power, alarms, communication systems, emergency lighting, escape arrangements and critical safety systems.

Hazardous Operations
Safe practices for confined spaces, hot work, working at height, lifting operations, enclosed areas and other high-risk shipboard activities.

Safety Management
Risk assessment, permit-to-work systems, toolbox meetings, incident reporting, safety procedures and safety culture.

Marine Regulations & Compliance
Training can also introduce learners to the regulatory and operational framework surrounding maritime safety and life-saving requirements.

LSA: Equipment Is Only as Effective as the People Using It

Life-saving appliances are critical onboard, but equipment alone cannot guarantee survival.

Crew members and marine personnel must know where equipment is located, how it functions, when it should be used and how to respond under pressure.

Our LSA-focused training is therefore designed around equipment familiarity, operational procedures, emergency readiness and practical decision-making.

Build Confidence Before It Is Needed

A real emergency is not the time to learn what to do.

The objective of this vertical is to develop personnel who can respond with discipline, awareness and confidence when circumstances become critical.

Training can support different levels of marine personnel — from newcomers developing fundamental safety awareness to experienced professionals strengthening specialized emergency-response capabilities.

A Safer Maritime Workforce

Marine Safety & LSA training supports the wider maritime ecosystem — including ships, shipyards, ports, offshore operations, marine contractors, training organizations and other marine workplaces.

Pertecnica Marine Academy is building a comprehensive learning environment where safety is treated not as a single course, but as an essential professional capability.

Prepare. Respond. Protect. Survive.

Explore the Marine Safety & LSA Vertical and develop the knowledge and readiness required to protect life and support safer marine operations.
